We would also like to give our heart felt thanks to Sharon Gray who donated a stunning painting which we sold during the weekend.. We are looking forward to working with Sharon in the future..
Getting in the the start of the essential winter feed: Thanks to some wonderful local support from Katy Deithrick who gifted a field of standing grass to help with our winter feed and the brilliant team from Andrew Marks Contractors we now have a good start to our winter provisions.. We still need more, please do get in touch if you can help..
26., doesn't look a day over 10!
Our gorgeous fellow Valient who is at least 26 years young, he has been with us 18 years.. Was having a lovely time today in the lovely sunshine.. We're going to dedicate a page to Valient on our website if you would like to follow him.. We will post a note when the page up and running.. We do hope you love these photos of our dear old Valient as much as we do..
The welfare work continues..
We would like to give our thanks to Nic de Brauwere head of welfare and behavior, qualified vet and chairman of NEWC, from Redwings in association with APHA and Bodmin Commoners Council.. He has assisted us with vital equipment this year and we will now be working with Redwings castrating our 9 lads.. We will continue to work closely with them in the struggle to regulate the ongoing Bodmin moorland pony situation.. It is absolutely essential that we maintain these natural pony herds.. It is just not enough to rescue a handful and domesticate them in stables.. Although that is important for the well being of the individual pony, we must not neglect the countless others.. We now have 8 herds of last winters rescued ponies and foals living in wonderful locations , 1 herd just about to move in with our dear friend and patron Will Young.. We have saved 43 moorland ponies and foals from last winters awful scenario, and along side top animal welfare organisations we will do so again this winter if necessary.. We have found mixing feral with riding horses that the ferals gained much confidence quickly and become very easy to handle, it has worked beautifully..
13hh 2 rescued stallion, rescued on the 22nd April 2016, along with our dear Faye- mother of our orphan Toffee Tofay.. He was her companion.. Body score 1.0 when he arrived..
Shires Holt is now a registered Charity, Reg. No. 1169277
We are pleased to announce we are now a registered charity, and we are delighted and honoured to be able to announce Will Young agreed to be our Patron..
Situated opposite the Visitor Centre on Bossiney Road, Tintagel is our tiny Boutique shop selling donated, and some very carefully selected new items to raise funds for our wonderful horses and ponies. From clothes to books to furniture although tiny there is nothing we will not sell, as we also have selling pages on facebook and an online shop here and on eBay..
Our little Toffee Tofaye settling in with Redford and Ella..
We at shires Holt are very excited today as our little orphan foal Toffee Tofaye, whose's pony mother was rescued from Bodmin Moor has today gone to live with his new parents Redford, our 18hh Clydesdale, and Ella.. After a very excited meeting Tofaye has settled in beautifully.. We do hope you will enjoy the photos of the new family together.. Tofaye has become quite a celebrity in Camelford, and we are very much looking forward to stepping out with him during the summer in Tintagel.
Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride,
friendship without envy, or beauty without vanity?
Here where grace is laced with muscle and strength by gentleness confined.
He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity.
There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent;
there is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.
England’s past has been borne on his back.
All our history is in his industry.
We are his heirs;
He is our inheritance.
